How to Measure for a Console Table
Length – Behind a sofa, aim for 2/3 to 3/4 of the sofa’s length. An 84" sofa pairs with a 56–63" console.
Height – Behind a sofa, keep the top level with the sofa back or up to 2" (5 cm) lower. In an entryway, 30–36" (76–91 cm) is typical.
Depth – Behind a sofa, 10–14" (25–36 cm) deep, leaving at least 24" (61 cm) to walk behind it. In an entryway, 12–18" (30–46 cm) deep, leaving about 36" (91 cm) to walk past.
Mirror or Art – Choose a piece about 2/3 the width of the table and hang it 6–10" (15–25 cm) above the tabletop.
