Assembly overview
Our coffee and console tables are assembled by using the provided wood glue and tightening the joint with a hex key
Why wood glue?
We know it’s a little unconventional to use wood glue but here’s why we do:
- It creates a very strong bond, usually stronger than the wood itself
- It allows for a seamless, minimalist look
The result being a long lasting piece of furniture without any visible hardware.
Instructions
- Lay your table upside down on a soft surface
- Apply a line of the provided wood glue to the unfinished underside of your table, including in the holes/mortises
- Insert the legs into the underside of the table. Note: the legs can be oriented however you please but most people choose to face the small holes towards the inside of the table
- Use the provided 4mm hex key to tighten the joint via the small hole in the leg. Ensure you have closed this connector to secure the legs to the tabletop.
- Clean up any excess wood glue with a damp rag
- Carefully flip the table so that it is standing up normally. If possible, add some heavy objects on the tabletop, above the legs, to help with keeping the joint closed.
- Avoid straining the table for 24 hours until the glue is fully cured
Notes:
- All accessories other than wood glue are optional to use as necessary
- If your table has a stretcher, we recommend attaching your stretcher to the legs first then attaching the legs to the underside of the tabletop

FAQs
How much wood glue should I apply?
A thick line on the unfinished portion of your table and in the holes is best, you can easily clean up any excess
How should I clean excess wood glue?
A little bit of "squeeze out" is actually good! Use a damp cloth to wipe it off before it dries, usually within 20 minutes.
How long will the glue take to dry?
We recommend waiting 24 hours before straining your table but you're welcome to start stacking objects immediately (in fact it's encouraged)
How do I care for my piece?
Wipe off any spills with a damp rag and avoid harsh cleaners. For tougher spills, you can use Rubio Monocoat's official surface care
What do I do with the sample of finish?
This extra finish is only needed if you'd like to refinish a portion of your piece down the road. For example, if the piece is scratched. It is not needed initially.
