How to Style a Minimalist Bookcase

Leave One-Third Empty – Open space is part of the design. Leave roughly a third of each shelf clear so every piece has room to breathe.
Mix Stacks – Pair upright rows of books with a few horizontal stacks; a stack also makes a handy riser for a small object.
Zigzag Your Anchors – Repeat similar pieces, like vases, on alternating shelves in a zigzag. The repetition leads the eye across the whole bookcase.
Group in Threes – Odd-numbered groups of varied heights feel natural and relaxed.
Ground the Bottom – Put larger, heavier pieces such as baskets and big books on the lowest shelves so the bookcase feels settled.
Edit the Palette – Stick to two or three tones plus one natural element, like a plant.
