All of our bookshelves and storage pieces are built out of solid wood. Specifically, we use three North American hardwoods: red oak, white oak and walnut.
We don’t use any MDF, engineered wood, plywood or otherwise veneered wood.

Can I build a custom bookcase?
Yes, we offer custom bookshelves and can adjust existing bookshelves if required

What kind of assembly is required?
The bookshelf is constructed via hidden mortise and tenon joints then reinforced with wood glue. This results in a very strong construction with no visible fasteners.
We provide everything you need to assemble the bookshelf and it should take one person 15 - 20 minutes depending on the size of the bookshelf.

How long will it take to receive my bookcase?
All of our bookcases are made to order and we aim to deliver them within 4 - 6 weeks
Does you ship to the US?
Yes, we offer free shipping to the United States and Canada
How much is shipping?
Our prices account for shipping and therefore shipping across Canada and the United States is free

Where are the bookcases built?
Our bookshelves are made in our North Vancouver workshop
Is there any MDF or plywood in the bookcases?
We only use solid wood, there is no MDF, plywood or otherwise veneered wood
What kind of finish is used?
We use Rubio Monocoat, a natural hardwax oil finish that offers protection without VOCs. It is Food Contact Compliant and Greenguard Certified. You can find more information on Rubio Monocoat's certifications here.
Is the finish safe for pets and children?
Yes, we use a non-toxic finish that is food safe and has 0% VOCs, more information on the finish and its certifications.
Are any chemicals used in the construction?
No, our bookshelves are built with solid wood then finished with a natural hard wax oil that is non-toxic and VOC free. Furthermore, we don't use any plastic in our construction or packaging.
How much weight can each shelf support?
It will depend a little on the shelf but the individual shelves we've tested have held 100lbs without issue
What kind of hardware is used?
For bookshelves with drawers or cabinets, we use Blum drawer slides and hinges
Are there any visible fasteners?
Our bookcases are assembled via mortise and tenon joints, secured with wood glue. There are no visible screws or fasteners of any type.
How big are the individual cubes in the bookshelf?
The standard cube we use has a width of 14.5", depth of 12.5" and height of 11.5". All cubes are a multiple of these dimensions.

You can use a damp cloth to wipe off any dust or spills
