What kind of customizations are possible?
We are happy to customize the following:
- Dimensions
- Arrangement of shelves
- Adding doors
However, we do not offer entirely bespoke bookcase designs; all bookcases adhere to the design of our current storage system.

What kind of doors are possible?
We offer two door designs:
- Sliding doors
- Push to open doors with hinges
Not all designs can accommodate doors so please reach out to discuss your specific bookcase.
When will my bookshelf arrive?
We build all of our bookshelves by hand and deliver custom ones in 6 - 8 weeks, though simple ones typically take 4 - 6 weeks
Where are the custom bookcases made?
All of our pieces, including custom bookcases, are made out of our Vancouver workshop in British Columbia
Can I see a bookcase in person?
You're welcome to visit our Vancouver workshop, near Triumph and Victoria, to see any piece we're working on. Please message us at hello@ombahome.com to schedule a visit.

How much is shipping?
Shipping is included in the quote provided above
How tall are the shelves?
Our default shelf height is 11.5" but this can be adjusted as necessary.
How will my custom bookshelf look?
You can browse our storage collection to get a sense of how your custom bookshelf will look.

What type of assembly is required?
The bookshelf is constructed via hidden mortise and tenon joints then reinforced with wood glue. This results in a strong construction with no visible fasteners.
We provide everything you need to assemble the bookshelf and it should take one person 10 - 20 minutes depending on the size of the bookshelf.
For Vancouver orders of large bookcases, we will deliver your assembled bookcase ourselves.
Can I design an entirely custom bookcase?
You can design your own configuration and set your own dimensions. However, we are not currently offering entirely bespoke designs.
What type of wood is used?
All of our furniture is built with North American hardwoods. We do not use MDF, plywood or otherwise veneered wood.
We offer red oak, white oak and walnut as a standard but are happy to work with other woods as necessary.
Can I add drawers to my bookshelf?
We do not currently offer drawers. We do however offer custom built wood storage boxes for all designs and locations.
Can I paint or stain my bookcase?
We do not offer painted or stained bookcases. However, we are happy to leave the bookcase unfinished if you would like to do so yourself.
