A handcrafted 6-person dining table made entirely from solid red oak in Vancouver, BC.

Traditional joinery details include bridle-jointed legs and a half-lap stretcher. The tabletop is finished with a natural hardwax oil that highlights the red oak’s rich grain, with an optional ceramic coating available for added durability.

Design details

A dining table for six in solid red oak, built by hand in our Vancouver workshop. Its legs and stretcher show traditional joinery, which gives it a sturdy look that suits minimalist, Scandinavian and Japandi dining rooms. Red oak is a warm, light brown hardwood with a bold, open grain and a subtle reddish tone.

It measures 68 in long × 36 in deep × 29.5 in high (173 × 91 × 75 cm) and weighs about 155 lb (70 kg). The top is 1.25 in thick solid red oak from North American mills and the legs are a substantial 2.5 in thick, with no MDF, plywood or veneer. The legs are joined with bridle joints and tied together by a half-lap stretcher, and the construction leaves room for the wood to move with the seasons. We aim to grain match the boards in the top, and the edges are square with a light softening.

We finish it with Rubio Monocoat, a natural, non-toxic hardwax oil that protects the wood and brings out its grain and colour. If it ever picks up a mark, you can touch up just that spot, and we include a little extra finish for that, along with felt feet to protect your floors. For extra protection against water, stains and scratches, we can add a ceramic coating on request.

It goes together in under 20 minutes, and we include everything you need.

We make it to order in 6–8 weeks, including custom sizes, and ship it free across Canada and the US. In Metro Vancouver, we'll deliver and assemble it for free, and elsewhere white glove delivery is available at extra cost. It comes with our 5 year warranty and 30 day return policy.

How does shipping work?

In Metro Vancouver, we deliver and assemble your table for free.

Outside Metro Vancouver, our 6 person table ships by UPS, so it arrives like any other UPS package. If you'd rather not move the table into your home yourself, please contact us and we can provide a quote for white glove delivery.

Our 8 person table is currently available in Metro Vancouver only.

Do I need to be home to accept delivery?

What if I want to be home to accept delivery?

If your table ships by UPS, leave us a note when placing your order and we'll ask for a signature on delivery. In Metro Vancouver, we always deliver your table in person.

Do I need to book my elevator?

If your table ships by UPS, you shouldn't need to. In Metro Vancouver, we deliver at a time that suits you, so you can book it ahead if your building requires it. Please reach out if you'd like to discuss your order.

What type of wood is used in the 6 person dining table in red oak?

The entire table, top and legs, is made out of solid red oak

Is there any MDF or plywood in the 6 person dining table in red oak?

We only use solid wood, there is no MDF, plywood or otherwise veneered wood

What kind of finish is used?

We use Rubio Monocoat, a natural hardwax oil finish that offers protection without VOCs. It is Food Contact Compliant and GREENGUARD Gold certified. You can find more information on Rubio Monocoat's certifications here.

Is the finish safe for pets and children?

Yes, we use a non-toxic finish that is food safe and has 0% VOCs, more information on the finish and its certifications.

Are any chemicals used in the construction?

No, our dining tables are built with solid wood then finished with a natural hard wax oil that is non-toxic and VOC free.

Are there any visible fasteners?

No, there are no visible screws or fasteners.

Is the tabletop grain matched?

Yes, we strive to grain match as best as possible though please note that every piece of wood is unique and therefore uniformity is not guaranteed.

How is wood movement accounted for?

The tabletop attaches to the base in a way that lets it expand and contract with seasonal changes in humidity.

Is the wood kiln dried?

Yes, the wood in all of our furniture, including the 6 person dining table in red oak, is kiln dried

Maintenance

How should I clean the dining table?

Wipe up spills with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners—use mild soap and water if needed.

How heat resistant is the table top?

Moderately heat resistant, but not heatproof. We advise using trivets or pads for hot dishes.

Can the table be in direct sunlight?

Constant direct sun exposure will change the colour of the wood but not the integrity of the table itself.

Can the table be refinished?

Yes the finish we use is intended to make any repairs simple: lightly sand and reapply oil to worn areas if needed
