FAQs
Ordering and sizing
How many people does it seat?
Ten comfortably: four along each side and one at each end. Twelve can fit at a squeeze, with five on each side.
Can I order a custom size?
Yes. We can make it longer, shorter, wider or narrower to suit your room, and in another wood. Message us at hello@ombahome.com with your room size and how many people you'd like to seat, and we'll suggest a size and send a quote.
What size room do I need?
Leave about 3.5 ft (1 m) between the table and the walls on every side, so chairs can pull out and people can walk behind them. For the 12 ft table, that means a room of at least about 20 × 12 ft.
How long does it take to make?
We make each table to order in 8–10 weeks, including custom sizes.
Are the chairs included?
No. The chairs in the photos aren't included, and we don't sell chairs at the moment.
Can I see the 10 person conference table in person?
You're welcome to visit our Vancouver workshop, near Triumph and Victoria, to see any piece we're working on.
Please message us at hello@ombahome.com to schedule a visit.
Can I order wood samples?
Yes, please request one here
Delivery and setup
Where do you deliver this table?
For now, our conference tables are available in Metro Vancouver (Greater Vancouver) only. If you're further away, message us at hello@ombahome.com.
Is delivery included?
Yes. White glove delivery is included with every conference table: we carry it into your space, assemble it, set it in place and take the packaging away.
Will it fit in our elevator?
The one-piece top is 12 ft long and won't fit in most elevators. If your elevator, stairwell or hallways are tight, we build the top in two 6 ft halves that join underneath once they're in the room.
Before you order, send us your elevator's inside dimensions and door opening, and we'll confirm which version you need.
Do we need to book an elevator or loading dock?
If your building requires it, yes. We'll set a delivery time with you ahead of time, so you can book the elevator and loading area.
Can it be moved or taken apart later?
Yes. The top attaches to the base with threaded inserts, so it can come off the base for a move. If it's built in two halves, those come apart too.
Power and cables
How does the built-in power work?
A lift-out lid in the middle of the top covers a channel inside the centre stretcher, where a power bar sits. Small notches at each end of the lid let cords come up through the top while it's closed, so laptops and phones charge right at the table.
How does the power cord reach the outlet?
The power bar's cord runs inside the centre stretcher to one end of the table, then down a groove in the leg, where a few small oak pins hold it in place. There's a groove at each end, so we run the cord down whichever side is closer to your outlet when we set the table up.
Is the power bar included?
Yes. Each table comes with a black power bar with a long cord, so there are no extension cords inside the table.
Can the power bar be replaced?
Yes. Lift out the lid, tap out the small pins that hold the cord in the leg groove, and pull the power bar out through the opening in the top. A new one goes back in the same way.
Will laptop chargers fit inside?
The channel is about 3 in deep, so phone chargers and compact laptop chargers fit standing up under the closed lid. Larger power bricks may not.
Can you add more power points?
Yes, as a custom option. Tell us how many people need power and where they sit, and we'll suggest a layout.
Construction
What wood is the 10 person conference table made from?
The whole table is solid white oak from North American mills, with no MDF, plywood or veneer. The top is 1.5 in thick, and the legs and stretchers are 2.5 in thick.
Will a 12 ft top sag?
No. Three stretchers run the length of the table under the top: one down the middle, which also holds the power, and one set in from each long edge. With the 1.5 in top, they keep it flat and stiff along its full length.
Is there knee room at every seat?
Yes. The outer stretchers are set about 9.5 in in from the long edges, so nothing gets in the way of your knees, and the underside of the top sits about 28.5 in off the floor.
How is wood movement accounted for?
The boards in the top run the full length of the table, and the top attaches to the base in a way that lets it expand and contract across its width with the seasons.
Are there any visible fasteners?
No. The top attaches from underneath, so there are no visible screws on the top or sides.
Is the tabletop grain matched?
Yes, we strive to grain match as best as possible though please note that every piece of wood is unique and therefore uniformity is not guaranteed.
Is the wood kiln dried?
Yes, the wood in all of our furniture, including the 10 person conference table, is kiln dried
Where is the 10 person conference table built?
Our conference tables are made in our Vancouver workshop.
Finish and care
What finish do you use?
We finish the table with Rubio Monocoat, a natural, non-toxic hardwax oil, then add a ceramic coating as standard. You can find more information on Rubio Monocoat's certifications here.
What does the ceramic coating do?
It adds a thin, clear protective layer that helps the top resist water, stains, scratches and fingerprints, and makes it easier to wipe clean. We add it to every conference table, since office tables see coffee cups, laptops and daily cleaning.
How should I clean it?
Wipe it with a soft, damp cloth and dry it. For stickier marks, use a little mild soap and water. Avoid harsh or abrasive cleaners, which can wear the coating.
Can the table be in direct sunlight?
Constant direct sun exposure will change the colour of the wood but not the integrity of the table itself.
Can it be repaired or refinished?
Yes. Light marks usually wipe away. Deeper scratches can be sanded, re-oiled and recoated, and we're happy to help.
Warranty
What warranty does it come with?
It comes with our 5 year warranty.
